Assess: Thorough Evaluation & Root Cause Discovery

Your journey begins with a New Patient Physical Therapy Evaluation. During this thorough, one-hour evaluation, we will listen attentively to your injury history, current health status, and specific goals. We perform a comprehensive exam, discuss our findings with you, and determine an individualized plan of care to address the root cause of your problem. This initial session always includes a comprehensive home exercise program designed to jump-start your recovery.

Restore: Individualized Treatment & Advanced Techniques

Physical Therapy Treatment sessions last one hour and are always one-on-one with your DPT. Your treatment is specifically tailored to your needs and may include a combination of evidence-based techniques to help you return to what you love. We utilize hands-on manual therapy to mobilize joints and soft tissues for pain relief, therapeutic exercises, activity and workout modifications, neuromuscular re-education and motor control training, education, gait training, and dry needling. The individualized home exercise program is a vital part of your rehabilitation and we update it frequently to ensure you meet your goals quickly.

Empower: Achieving Your Goals & Long-Term Wellness

Our ultimate goal is your empowerment—to ensure you feel confident and equipped to tackle anything that comes your way, returning to the activities you desire without limitations. We aim to help you build a stronger foundation for future health by providing the education and tools necessary to stay active and pain-free long after your treatment sessions conclude.

Our Model: Prioritizing You

Many people find that the personalized care at Vitality Physical Therapy helps them feel better sooner, get back to what they love faster, and avoid the frustration and extra costs that can come with prolonged care. Our personalized treatment plans, free from insurance constraints, often lead to more effective and accelerated recovery because we are not limited by arbitrary visit caps or required use of ancillary staff. We provide high-quality care at competitive rates, which can be significantly lower than the fees encountered at some hospital-based practices.

Furthermore, Ohio is a direct access state, meaning you can come straight to Vitality Physical Therapy without the delay of obtaining a referral. Our Doctors of Physical Therapy are trained to determine if physical therapy is appropriate for you or if a referral to another provider is necessary. If you grant consent, we are happy to coordinate communication with all other involved healthcare providers. If you are unsure where to begin, we offer a free 15-minute consultation to see if our services align with your needs.

Fitness and Performance

If you are already active and injury-free but want to elevate your fitness and optimize performance, our Fitness and Performance session is the ideal solution. This specialized one-hour appointment includes a detailed movement assessment (analyzing squats, deadlifts, overhead lifts, etc.). Based on this, we prescribe mobility exercises, strengthening routines, and/or motor control exercises specifically designed to optimize your movement, preventing future injuries and enhancing peak physical condition. This proactive approach helps you take charge of your health and wellness.

At Vitality Physical Therapy, we specialize in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and mobility impairments. Dr. Kerek and Maggie Ray are Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialists (OCS) and utilize their expertise to treat simple and complex cases.

We address the foundational mechanics of movement to improve longevity, resilience, and performance. Whether you’re training hard, staying active, or simply want to move better, our mobility and performance services are designed to keep you doing what you love — without limitations.

Our targeted services include:

  • Gait and Running Analysis to improve efficiency, reduce injury risk, and keep you moving strong — whether you’re walking the neighborhood or training for your next race.
  • Mobility Restoration and Enhancement to improve joint range of motion, decrease stiffness, and support better movement patterns.
  • Strength and Performance Training through individualized programming that builds muscle, enhances stability, and translates directly to sport and daily life.
  • Balance and Neuromuscular Training to improve control, coordination, and injury resilience.

Movement Retraining to optimize movement, reduce compensations, and prevent recurring injuries.

Our goal isn’t just pain relief — it’s helping you move better, perform better, and stay active for the long run.

Whether you’re coming back from surgery, dealing with nagging pain that won’t go away, or recovering from an injury, we build personalized treatment plans around one goal: helping you get back to doing what you love — stronger, more resilient, and more confident than before.

At Vitality, we commonly treat and rehabilitate:

  • Shoulder pain, including rotator cuff strains and tears
  • Hip pain and labral injuries
  • Knee pain, ankle sprains, and plantar fasciitis
  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain and radiating pain from the neck or low back (cervical and lumbar radiculopathy)
  • Tendonitis, bursitis, and tendinopathy
  • Tennis elbow
  • Post-surgical recovery, including rotator cuff repairs (RCR), labral repairs, joint replacements, and ligament repairs
  • Chronic pain, including headaches and migraines
  • Ongoing joint conditions like arthritis

No matter where you’re starting, our focus is always the same: calm the pain, rebuild strength, restore mobility, and help you move with confidence again.

What should I expect during my initial New Patient Physical Therapy Evaluation?

Your initial visit will be a comprehensive, one-hour evaluation focused on discovering the root cause of your physical problem. Your dedicated DPT will spend time listening to your injury history and discussing your personal goals. A detailed physical exam will be performed, the findings will be thoroughly evaluated and discussed with you, and a personalized plan of care will be created. Crucially, this first session also includes initial treatment and the creation of your starting home exercise program.

How long are physical therapy treatment sessions?

Unlike many traditional clinics where time with the therapist may be brief, all Physical Therapy Treatment sessions at Vitality Physical Therapy are a full one hour in length. Furthermore, you will receive this care one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, ensuring that your entire session is dedicated to hands-on manual techniques, targeted exercise, and patient education directly from an expert, supporting good continuity and quality of care.

What advanced techniques are incorporated into treatment at Vitality Physical Therapy?

Treatment plans are customized and may incorporate various techniques beyond standard exercise. These may include specific therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education/motor control training, gait training, and education. A key advanced component is manual techniques, which are hands-on methods used to mobilize soft tissues and joints for effective pain relief. Additionally, both Dr. Kerek and Maggie Ray are certified in dry needling, which is used for pain management, improving function, and sports rehabilitation. We are focused on using evidence-based techniques to achieve the highest standard of care.

How is the Wellness and Fitness session different from regular Physical Therapy Treatment?

The Wellness and Fitness session is designed for individuals who are currently injury-free and performing the activities they enjoy but wish to optimize their movement and performance. This session focuses on performing a comprehensive movement assessment—such as analyzing your squat, deadlift, or overhead reach—to identify areas for improvement. The DPT then prescribes specific mobility, strengthening, and motor control exercises to help you enhance your fitness and proactively prevent future injuries.

How quickly can I start seeing improvements in my condition?

While every patient’s recovery journey is customized based on their specific condition and goals, the one-on-one, hour-long treatment sessions often lead to a more efficient and potentially faster recovery compared to clinics with insurance limitations. We prioritize focusing solely on your recovery and tailoring the treatment plan to your unique needs, which allows for accelerated progress and a prompt return to your desired activities. Some patients observe improvement in just a few sessions, while others may require ongoing therapy for more complex issues.

Do you only treat sports injuries, or do you handle chronic conditions?

Vitality Physical Therapy treats a wide and comprehensive range of conditions, spanning from acute sports injuries and post-surgical rehabilitation to the careful management of chronic conditions and complex mobility issues. Our experts specialize in treating persistent issues such as low back and neck pain, headaches and migraines, labral tears, tendonitis, arthritis, and radicular pains. We utilize holistic approaches and non-invasive techniques to help manage long-term discomfort and restore function, helping you reclaim your quality of life.

What is the overall philosophy of care at Vitality Physical Therapy?

Our philosophy is centered on treating the whole person, providing compassionate care, and deeply listening to the patient to understand their unique goals. We are dedicated to delivering a personalized approach where your goals drive the treatment plan, not insurance mandates. We believe in empowering you to take charge of your health and wellness, ensuring that we are not just treating current symptoms but helping you build a stronger foundation for long-term health and activity.
